Week 30

Good Morning Team,

Here we are...at the end of another week...and a very rainy week at that.  We have one more week before our MSTEP testing begins.  You have been working so hard to prepare our students for this testing, and soon we will be able to see the results of your effort.  I hope that you all have a wonderful and restful weekend!

Week 30 Instruction

This week is Week 30 of instruction. Even though you are reviewing and preparing for MSTEP, it is very important that we maintain our scope and sequence rigorously, and that we are up to date with the weekly Common Assessments.

Lesson Plans

Paras/Interventionists - Small Group Lesson plans for the week of 4/20-4/27 due to me by 8:00 am Monday 4/20.  As always, these need to be focused on the Priority Standards.

Student Supervision

Thank you for your increased focus on student supervision and adhering to the routines and expectations.  This has been a rough week with behaviors and I know it's been draining on you.  Keep being vigilant in your supervision and management...don't ignore the "little fires".

BR/NJHS Planting Day Rescheduled

Our BR/NJHS Planting Day for Thursday, April 23rd is being rescheduled for the end of May.  This is because we are in the process of purchasing the planters and plants and they won't be here in time.  Please let your students know.

Sub Plans- PLEASE READ

PLEASE...PLEASE...PLEASE...

We are now in the season where everyone is working hard to utilize their remaining ESTA time and/or dealing with unexpected illness.  We NEEED everyone to have 7-10 days worth of work packets to supplement lesson plans as curriculum instruction should not stop...This was an expectation presented to you last August during our Back to School PD Week and it has been mentioned several times throughout the year in our Blog, so this should not be new information to anyone.

  • Packets need to be ALREADY copied, put together, and prepared for your scheduled and unscheduled absences.
  • Attendance Class Lists
  • Student Allergy Information
  • Daily Schedule (that includes class bathroom breaks)
  • Arrival, Dismissal, and Lunch procedures
Also, when you are absent, you will need to replenish your supply of work packets so that you are prepared in the event of any future absence.

To those that are already complying with this expectation...we truly thank you!

Staff Arrival

Reminder...if you are late or leave early, you must put your ESTA time in.

Salaried Staff - due in your classroom by 7:30 am

Hourly Staff - due in your classroom by 8:00 am

We are excited to announce that we will be having our first Mother Son Dance since the pandemic!

A SchoolConnect Post will go out today.

Attendance

Please continue to be up to date with your daily attendance and grid submission. It is your responsibility to make sure that your attendance is submitted for AM/PM each day and that your grids are submitted for every week of the school year..  Please check your folder.

Behaviors

If a student is misbehaving or having issues in the classroom, you need to be the first contact with the parent (Phone Call, Email, SchoolConnect, etc.).  Also, make sure that you are inputting these behaviors in the system.  The ABSS's and Deans cannot move on these continual behaviors if there is no paper trail.

Also,  continue to remind students/parents that if students have been suspended since the beginning of Trimester 3 they may be unable to attend the field trips.

Purses

Please remind your girls that they are not to bring purses to school and wear them.  Purses are not a part of the school uniform.

Week 29

Good Morning Team,

We made it through another week!...You were all working so hard with getting the students back on track following spring break...and we completed another successful session of tutoring!  Great job!

I know that this is a stressful and tiring time of the year.  Please take some time this weekend to rest and recharge.  Have a blessed one...

Week 29 Instruction

This week is Week 29 of instruction. Three weeks from Monday, our testing season begins.  Please continue to focus on those priority standards during your workshop/small group instructional time.

Lesson Plans

Teachers - Week 29 plans are due today

Paras/Interventionists - Small Group Lesson plans for the week of 4/13-4/20 due to me by 8:00 am Monday 4/13.  As always, these need to be focused on the Priority Standards.

Workshop/Small Group

As you are planning for your Workshop/Small Group instruction, please keep the following in mind:

We all know that quality core instruction is what we strive to provide.   However, not every student "gets it".  So when you are planning for your intervention/reteach small group workshop remember to use different strategies than when you first taught the concept.  The students who are in reteach wouldn't be there now if they had mastered it in whole group instruction.

Bulletin Boards

It is time for Hallway Bulletin Boards to be updated with spring backgrounds and current student work.  This was due Friday, April 10th.  Please make sure that this is done asap.

Week 28

Happy Friday Team...It's time to celebrate!

You made it...you did it...congratulations!  Now, it's time for you to enjoy a well deserved break!  Thank you so much for all of your hard work these last few weeks.  It has been noticed.  Please relax, rest, rejuvenate, and have some fun and we will return for the last push to summer. 🩷

When we return we will be entering the last 10 weeks of school and testing season!  As you know, this time will go like a whirlwind, and it is very important that set your classroom and students up for success.

As such, I strongly recommend you go back to the "beginning" as you welcome your students back to class.  Procedures and Routines  are EVERYTHING... If students behaviors do not match your expectations, make sure you have them re-do and repeat until they do, and as often as you need.

Just remember, on Tuesday, April 7th, you are setting your classroom and students' behaviors for the remainder of the year.

Week 28 Instruction

When we return we will be in Week 28 for instruction.  Even though we are rigorously preparing for our testing season, it is very important that we maintain our scope and sequence without deviation, and that we are up to date with the weekly Common Assessments. Please make sure that this is done.

MSTEP Mondays

We don't have many Mondays left before your MSTEP testing begins.  Please make sure that you are utilizing this time effectively in preparation for testing.

03's and GLTs

GLTs and 03s will be held as scheduled.  03's during these next 10 weeks will be very purposeful as we take time together to reflect over this past year and begin to make preparations for the upcoming school year.

Sub Plans

It is very important that you have sub plans, work and all of the necessary documents ready to go.  With the uptake in illness, these are necessary for last minute absences.  It is not fair to your teammates to have to scramble to make copies, etc. to ensure the consistency of instruction in your classroom.  Please make sure, if this applies to you, that you have sub plans and work ready upon our return.

Week 24

Happy Weekend Team!
This week was a long, busy and intense week, culmimating in Professional Development.
I want to thank you for your buy in during our data driven Grade Level Team meetings this week.  Not one person made excuses or shied away from the reality of next steps.  I truly appreciate your willingness to make these next 5-6 weeks of instruction focused and purposeful as we prepare our students for testing proficiency.  We are all in this together and we need to be there for each other so that we hit our school and grade level proficiency goals.

Also, I want to take the opportunity to thank you for thinking of me this week.  Your gift was so meaningful...wow...you really know me.  Maybe that means I share too much? LOL!  But, I was and am deeply touched by your thoughtfulness.  It truly meant a lot.  However, I will say it again...YOU are the greatest gift.  It means so much to me that you are willing to be in the "trenches", doing whatever is need to ensure that our students achieve their academic goals.

I hope you have a restful and happy weekend.  We have a busy spring ahead of us.  Stay healthy...please!

Week 24 Instruction

This coming week is Week 24 instruction. In addition, we will need to continue to provide our weekly whole group instruction for our scope and sequence and administer our weekly Common Assessments.
